If it’s been a while since you’ve renewed your license, we’re here to remind you to do it! This is something that you most definitely don’t want to forget and can get you into a bit of trouble if you’re out and about with an expired license. So, be sure to check up on your license and start the renewal process before it’s too late! Below, you will find an easy guide to renewing your license with ease. So, check it out and give us a call when you’re squared away and ready to take a test drive in that vehicle you’ve fallen in love with!
- You must renew your license before it expires or you could face fines.
- You can renew up to 1 year prior to expiration and 2 years after (there are no exceptions).
- Once your license is renewed, your expiration date will be extended for 8 years.
You do not need to have an Enhanced or REAL ID. However, if you have a standard license, you will not be allowed to board a domestic flight beginning in October 2020 (unless you have a passport). We encourage you to obtain an Enhanced License to make traveling a little easier.
To Renew Online: Visit the DMV’s website and follow directions.
To Renew by Mail:
Complete the renewal notice that was mailed to you and return it with the following items:
- A completed Vision Test Report or get texted by an approved vision registry provider.
- A check or money order payable to ‘Commissioner of Motor Vehicles’
If you have not received a renewal notice, please visit the DMV website to fill out a new form and request a new renewal notice.
In about 10 business days, your renewed license will be mailed to you. If this process takes more than 2 weeks, reach out to your local DMV and inform them of the issues you are having.
